Responsible Care^® is a global voluntary initiative of the chemical industry to continuously improve environmental, health and safety performance of their operations and products in a manner responsive to the concerns of the public.

The initiative has been launched in 1985 in Canada. Today, national chemical associations in nearly 70 economies around the world have implemented the principles to manage chemicals in a safe manner throughout their life cycle, while promoting their role in improving quality of life and contributing to sustainable development.
