LAPONITE-SL 25
LAPONITE is BYK´s brand name for rheology additives based on a synthetic phyllosilicate. These additives are very pure, white and therefore have no influence on the color of the system in which they are used. LAPONITE additives increase the viscosity, especially in the low shear range and, depending on the amount used, cause a thixotropic to pseudoplastic flow behavior. LAPONITE-SL 25 is the only product in this range that is offered as an aqueous, modified dispersion and is therefore very easy to process. This property makes it an ideal product for getting to know the benefits of the LAPONITE range. It is very effective and also suitable for post-addition. LAPONITE-SL 25 can be used in a wide variety of water-based systems.

RHEOBYK-7650, RHEOBYK-7670, RHEOBYK-7690
RHEOBYK-7650, RHEOBYK-7670, and RHEOBYK-7690 are solid associative thickeners based on HEUR technology with a unique delivery form: They are supplied as flakes, which prevent dust formation and can still be perfectly incorporated directly or as a pregel. Furthermore, the solid delivery form means that they do not require the addition of biocides to prevent microbial infestation and that they are environment-friendlier than products supplied in solvents because the transport volume is reduced. Hence, RHEOBYK-7650, RHEOBYK-7670, and RHEOBYK-7690 are ideal for usage in a variety of water-based systems. They form a product family that covers the entire shear range, from low to high shear levels, and has outstanding storage stability.

RHEOBYK-D 420
RHEOBYK-D 420 is a liquid rheology additive based on a modified urea. Its outstanding feature is the generation of pronounced thixotropic flow properties to improve storage stability and sag resistance without negatively influencing the flow and application properties of the system. Pigments, fillers, and other solids are stabilized against settling and sedimentation even at low viscosity, syneresis is prevented, and higher film thicknesses are achieved without increased sagging tendency. After the incorporation of RHEOBYK-D 420, a three-dimensional network structure is formed, which can easily be disrupted again by shearing during application. RHEOBYK-D 420 can be added at any stage in the production process, including post-addition.

BYK-AQUAGEL 7100
Natural layered silicates, often referred to as “clay,” are well-known and widely used rheology additives. This raw material contains accessory minerals that must be removed via a purification process before it can be used as an additive. If a conventional drying process is applied, this leads to an agglomeration of the clay platelets.
BYK-AQUAGEL 7100 is purified in a very elaborate procedure and subsequently “shock dried.” This special process forms a significantly more open and delaminated surface structure compared to standard products. The structure is permanent and already slightly preactivated which makes BYK-AQUAGEL 7100 easier to incorporate. Longer dispersion times with high shear forces are therefore not required and the final viscosity is achieved sooner. The result is a thixotropic flow behavior for a wide range of water-based applications. One particular benefit is that the new natural, highly purified layered silicate BYK-AQUAGEL 7100 enables the manufacturing of higher filled flowable intermediates than standard products.

OPTIGEL-WX
OPTIGEL-WX is a pre-activated phyllosilicate and an "all-rounder" for use in a variety of aqueous systems. It produces a thixotropic flow at normal dosage, very efficiently prevents the settling of solid components and increases the sag resistance of the system. OPTIGEL-WX is not sensitive to acids and bases and can be used in a wide pH range.
