In 2024, BYK in Widnes selected Halton Entertainment's Arts and Regional Theatre School (HEARTs) from a number of charities as the fundraising target for the year's planned charity events. HEARTs, a local theatre company that welcomes students from three years old to young adults, has an open-door policy to ensure everyone is treated equally. The organization, which feels like one big family, was suggested by one of BYK's longest serving employees who, along with the family, is actively involved in volunteering with HEARTs.
Throughout the year, BYK in Widnes organized several fundraising events to support HEARTs. The fundraising culminated in a challenging three-day, 80-mile charity walk along the Welsh Coastal Path. These combined efforts resulted in a total donation of £4,269.53 to HEARTs. This major injection of funding will enable the much-needed lighting system to be upgraded for future performances.
