Work 4.0

Parallel to global growth, BYK invests in its main site – and develops Wesel into a campus. In 2012, the modern A6 laboratory building was built for around 18 million euro, connected to existing buildings via tunnels and glazed passages. Thanks to a modular construction concept, individual rooms can be enlarged or reduced as needed. To enable staff to exchange ideas at any time, communication zones are located throughout the building – if you want to work together successfully in application development worldwide, you need to create space for effective communication.

A short time later, the next construction project begins: a new office building for around 100 employees from the IT and digitalization departments. From the very beginning, future users can get involved in the design. This is how HORST, as the employees have christened the new building, was born, an acronym for Hochmodern, Offen, Raumschaffend, Strukturiert and Transparent (ultra-modern, open, space-creating, structured and transparent).

Inaugurated in 2019, the building is not a classic open-plan office, but consists of various elements for different occasions: separate rooms for focused work, meeting rooms with writable walls, flexible seating for spontaneous brainstorming sessions, booth-like rooms for undisturbed phone calls and cozy retreat rooms in the style of a living room. When the weather is nice, employees can also work on the sun terrace with a view of the greenery - ideal conditions for new ideas.
