BYK in Tongling
To serve the rapidly growing Chinese market more quickly, BYK decides at the beginning of the 2000s to build a production facility on-site. Because the sister company ELANTAS has been represented there for some time, the choice falls on the industrial city of Tongling in southeastern China. In August 2002, operations in Tongling start smoothly. Initially, the plant only produces five products: Paint and plastic additives, exclusively for the Chinese market. All raw materials initially come from Germany. Over the years, the site grows steadily. Today, around 50 employees in Tongling produce up to 20,000 tons of additives per year, including rheology and wax additives for export.
